My favorite type of self care is being outdoors, soaking in the sun, and re-energizing my soul. What does it mean to you?

Now that you’ve spent your time looking for tips on how to be a better parent or caregiver, it’s time to take a moment to fill your own cup. You are probably worn out. And likely, you are overworked. You probably haven’t done anything for yourself since you’ve had the responsibility of caring for another human. I get it! Those little humans can be extremely time consuming!

But what I want you to know is that it is okay to take time for yourself. This doesn’t make you a bad parent! It doesn’t make you selfish – or maybe it does? If making sure that your own basic needs are met is selfish, then so be it. What kind of life do you want to portray to your children? Do you want them to believe that when they grow up they should expect to be stressed out and too busy to take a moment to relax? Of course you don’t.

Being a good parent includes teaching your kids how to have a good life. This means teaching them how to become happy adults. In order to do this you must do it yourself.

In this little parent corner, I hope you will find tips that will encourage you to create your own self care practices. I will be sharing my own self care practices, thoughts and inspirations, and beliefs I hold that help me get through this life experience. Maybe you already have some great self care rituals. Please feel free to share them with me, as well as any thoughts or questions you have. I look forward to hearing from you!
